A mother’s love is described as an innate feeling which lasts forever. If her child ends up a drug addict she is supposed to love him unconditionally. Modern society blames the parents for fucked up children, but are they entirely to blame? I once knew a teenage mother who by the age of 18 was pregnant with her second child, married to a man in the armed forces, and living completely on her own. In her loneliness she turned to drugs and other men for the affection she so clearly needed. As a result she neglected her children and eventually lost any right to them. Did she just fall out of love with her kids or is that not humanly possible? Was she just too young to understand? A kid raising kids-a modern day epidemic. She hasn’t seen her kids in over 2 and a half years. She’s living a life in and out of rehab and jail, but she is claiming to still want her kids back. There is a deep feeling inside of me which prays for her, but has she gone too far? Do her kids deserve to ever see her again? I dread the day they’re old enough to ask questions because the answers won’t be so simple. What effect will this have on their lives? As a mother is she naturally entitled to be in their lives forever? I believe that a mother loses any and all rights to her kids when she has given up their safety, well-being, and puts them second to her own life. A mother is a woman who sacrifices, endures, and perseveres through all obstacles without ever letting her child suffer.
